Andrew Shafer is originally from Greenville, SC but has since spent time in Knoxville, TN, West Lafayette, IN, and now Nashville. Starting his career with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Shafer then moved into work in higher education. His positions have been at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Purdue University, and most recently as Vice President for Advancement at Aquinas College in Nashville.
In 2015, Andrew transitioned into an active fundraising role as Chief Advancement Officer for the Paulist Fathers in addition to further enhancing his consulting business, Strategic Development Solutions. Shafer is based out of Nashville and works remotely with the Paulist Office of Mission Advancement in New York City as well as with consulting clients across the country with a predominant focus on sustainable fundraising.
Shafer also serves as Adjunct Faculty with Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis, New York University, and North Park University, Chicago. In 2014, Shafer was an author for one of the newest and highly cited go-to textbook for the nonprofit sector, Facilitating Higher Education Growth through Fundraising and Philanthropy.
