Dr. Kelly Leiter, dean emeritus of the College of Communications at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, spent nearly 15 years as a reporter, feature writer, and editor at newspapers including the Indianapolis News, Chicago Daily News, and Washington Star. At the same time, he has been a correspondent for Life magazine and contributor to Christian Science Monitor and The Nation.
