ADVERTISING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
--PR students' campaign encourages middle school students to buckle up
More than 1,000 students and teachers at Knoxville's South-Doyle Middle School took part in the Big Orange Buckle Campaign 2008 during a Feb. 27 event led by UT public relations students. The outreach campaign, which focused on seatbelt safety, usage, and awareness, was part of the Public Relations Student Society of America's Bateman competition. The competition challenged public relations students across the country to create and execute a month-long campaign for a designated client. This year's client was Chevrolet's Safe Kids Buckle Up in cooperation with General Motors and Chevrolet. The event was made possible by West Chevrolet and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
