INFORMATION SCIENCES
-- Cortez, doctoral student present workshop in Croatia
Ed Cortez and doctoral student Simon Aristeguieta-Trillos presented a workshop, "Toolkit for Assessing Grants and Publication Productivity and Impact," at the 2008 Bobcatsss Conference held Jan. 27-30 in Zadar, Croatia. BOBCATSSS is an annual symposium organized by students at a number of universities in Europe. It takes place under the auspices of EUCLID (European Association for Library and Information Education and Research) and deals with themes from library and information science.

-- Deadline to register for College Research Symposium is today
Today is the deadline to register for the 30th annual College Research Symposium, "Celebrating the Past, Visioning the Future," set for Friday, Feb. 29. This year, a panel presentation will feature four CCI alumni: Dr. Kandi Walker (Louisville), Dr. Debbie Treise (Florida), Dr. David Sumner (Ball State), and Mr. John Wilkin (Michigan). Alumnus Reggie Murphy, director of research for Gannett, Co., Inc. will serve as the keynote luncheon speaker. TELL YOUR STUDENTS
-- Graduating seniors can RSVP online for spring/summer 2008 commencement
Registration is now open for eligible students who wish to participate in the College of Communication and Information Spring/Summer 2008 Commencement Ceremony. Students must RSVP online by Friday, April 25. The event will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 9, in the Knoxville Convention Center.

-- SIS Research Forum with Dr. Julie Todaro, 12-1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, Hodges Library, Lindsay Young Auditorium. The School of Information Sciences invites you to hear Dr. Julie Todaro speak on "21st Century Libraries." Todaro will focus on today's world where libraries exist in a "flat" and ever evolving environment.
-- CCI International Brown Bag Series - The Fulbright Program, 12-1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, 420 Communications. Catherine Luther, Ben Bates, and Carol Tenopir will discuss their Fulbright experiences.
