CCI Students Plan Walk to Honor Former Classmate

Communication studies students at the University of Tennessee will hold a commemorative walk on Sunday, Dec. 2 to raise funds for a scholarship in memory of Nathan Boals, a former classmate.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Circle Park on the UT campus.

Boals, who was a communication studies major, died while on a study abroad trip in July. The School of Communication Studies and the Communication Studies Club joined with the Boals family to create the scholarship in Nathan Boals' name.

Everyone is invited to participate in the walk. In addition, anyone can contribute to the scholarship fund by making a donation.

Boals, a 21-year-old senior at the time of his death, was from Hixson, Tenn. He was one of eight UT students and 11 Michigan State University students taking part in a study abroad program in Paris. The program is intended to introduce students to the similarities and differences in international and organizational communication between the U.S. and European Union member nations.
