MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN AND JOB FAIR

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN: As you are aware, the College has gone through some significant changes in the past few months. We are now the Collegeof Communication and Information, and we are have four separate schools: the School of Advertising and Public Relations, the School of Communication Studies (Speech Communication is in this school), the School of Information Sciences, and the School of Journalism and Electronic Media (i.e., Broadcasting). The new organization should be beneficial for all of us--especially our students. While our curricula will undergo some changes in the future, this should not affect your academic programs. If you are planning to graduate under any catalog prior to the one that will be published next year (2003-2004), you will have a grace period during which your program will remain the same. If you have any questions or concerns about your graduation status or your program of study, please come to see me, Betty Bradley, Director of Advising, or your advisor. We are making every effort to assure that this will be a smooth transition for all concerned.

We are in the process of ordering benches for the hallways on the third floor of the building. We will also add a new display case and bulletin board. I am unsure of the time these will be installed since the Physical Plant will schedule them as they have time. Your DSAC (Dean's Student Advisory Council) as well as your SGA representatives have been extremely helpful this year. Their recommendations and support have been excellent, and I am grateful for their help.

For those of you who are graduating in May, we are planning a reception for you and your families immediately after the graduation excercise. You will receive more information about this event in the near future. We welcome an opportunity to congratulate you and to meet your families.

We are very proud of our students, and we thank you for being a part of the College.

Faye D. Julian, Interim Dean
