MESSAGE FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS MAJORS - SPRING 2006

I recently began working at UT as marketing director in the Division of University Outreach and Continuing Education. There is an immediate need for three journalism/PR interns for the spring semester and beyond. I would prefer juniors/seniors but am willing to consider promising sophomores as well.

The internships would be paid at a rate similar to other student employees on campus, but they would also gain practical experience and tangible work for their portfolios.

PRSSA MEETING. PRSSA will have a meeting Thursday Jan. 19 at 7:00 p.m. in room 309! Janya Marshall and Chris Davis from American Red Cross will speak on communication during the Hurricane Katrina Disaster. Dues to join PRSSA for the spring semester are $60 and are due Jan. 31. As always there will be free food.

Spring Semester Opportunities:

Plan and execute one PR program, including conducting any media interviews generated
.Write at least one bylined article in 117,000-circulation AAA member publication
.Help stage at least one event
.Help lobby issues in Tennessee General Assembly
.Other duties as required
.Unpaid

Requirements:
.2.5 GPA or above
.Junior or Senior standing
.Excellent writing skills
.Excellent organizational abilities

Once again, it's our delight to invite your top graduate and undergraduate PR students to apply for the summer London seminar in International Public Relations. Dr. Barbara DeSanto, APR, Fellow, will lead the seminar this year. The classes begin this year on May 15 and concludes on June 2. The late spring timeframe also facilitates lower air fares. Cost for the program this year is $2895 including tuition, lodging, most meals, ground transportation, Regent's College fees (computers, printing, etc.), London tube & bus pass, plus a few incidentals. It does not include air fare (most students last year found roundtrip flights for around $500).
Enrollment is limited to 18 students.
